What's it all about?
'Walking with the wounded' is a polar expedition that starts in March 2011. The aim of the expedition is to successfully reach the North Pole with two wounded soldiers, which will make them the first amputees to reach the Pole.
The aim of this Virtual Walk to the Pole website is to engage young people with the polar expedition via a web based expedition game that's part education, part fun, part fund-raising.
Participating teams take part in weekly interactive challenges that mimic the activities and schedule of the actual polar team through mini games, quizzes, leader boards and physical challenges.
The progress of each school team is tracked and scored as they compete with each other to be the highest scoring team to reach the virtual North pole.
